A funny I found on snorgtees.com
Today I had an interesting thought as I was driving down I-95 in Northern, Maine. I decided that I wanted to try to
make something levitate telekinetically. The object I chose was a small, Tim
Horton’s Iced Capp cup that was sitting in my cup holder. I decided to use the cup because I figured it
wasn’t heavy. It is also an item that I’m
used to lifting by hand. I gave it a
try, focusing as hard as I could while driving on the cup. I made a picture of it in my mind and I
imagined a pressure on the bottom of the cup that would cause it to rise. I didn’t look at the cup because I figured
that my mind already knew it was there and what it looked like. I wasn’t able to lift it and my focus began
to shift to something else.
mmmm! Refreshing!
I then thought about whether or not God wanted me to have a
telekinetic ability. With God, all things
are possible. So if I can’t lift the cup with my mind, maybe it’s because He
doesn’t want me to. So what does he want me to do? Apparently he wants me to have the ability to
become a mechanical engineer because he got me through some tough times in
school and now I have a degree. So,
could it be that we can figure what God wants for us by looking at what he has
already given us? Maybe the things that
we’ve accomplished in the past are like clues to what we will be. I decided that it wasn’t good to constantly
be searching for what he wants for us because we wouldn’t have time to do the
things we were meant to do, and frankly it doesn’t feel good or right. But at least maybe we can have clues.
So I started thinking about why I wanted to levitate my cup
and I realized that it’s because I have always been able to feel a certain
energy within me, but I could never use it for anything. The energy doesn’t have an outlet. But when this energy builds up inside of me I
think of kicking a soccer ball miles into the air, or of jumping up and flying. I have a vision of myself complete these
incredible actions. But is that what God
wants for me? Maybe if this energy did have an outlet I would use it for
worse, and God might not want that of me.
But I do indeed have this energy, and I do think about ways to use it so
maybe He does want me to find an outlet for it.
Maybe I just have to work harder.
Jesus said that if our faith were the size of a mustard seed, we could
move mountains, so maybe my faith is simply weak.
I decided that I should pray before trying to lift the cup
again. So I prayed for guidance and
strength and I began once again. I then
realized that I had been trying to lift the cup from the bottom, but maybe that
was too unstable for my mind. Maybe it
would be best to have my mind try to lift the cup in the way that my hand lifts
the cup. This time I imagined a
hand-like force lifting the cup.
Nothing. Then I thought maybe I
should start with the cup in front of me so that I could picture it better. Nothing.
Maybe the cup is too heavy.
Although my arm can lift the cup, I haven’t been using my mind as much
as I’ve used my arm and my mind might not be strong enough. Maybe I shouldn’t be thinking of a force
lifting the cup. Maybe I should try to
turn gravity off. Maybe I should
manipulate the air to lift the cup.
Maybe not the air, but something within the air. Air molecules. The gas atoms in the air. The quarks in the atoms. MAYBE…
It's like...gravity isn't
Then I thought of the most fascinating thing that I had
thought of yet. Maybe, maybe, maybe…
there is something we don’t know about that could allow us to lift the cup with
our minds. Maybe we can manipulate
something that science cannot understand yet or that hasn’t been
discovered. If science can’t explain
gravitational force, what else can’t it explain? Why is mass attracted to mass? Gravity is a tremendous force, but what is its
source? Why is this so fascinating? Well, it doesn’t really help me levitate an
object, but it tells me that if I try and I expend every possible answer, it
might work. An the thing is, it’s
impossible to expend every answer, so I can never run out of ideas to try.
This was the first day I tried telekinesis.
